Preferred originals: flat papers/boards (up 1/2" thick). For best results, use white presentation-grade paper (or heavier). Translucent papers/materials do not scan as well as opaque, white paper. If off-white paper is used, the scanner will see this as a color. The ColorScan and subsequent prints will exhibit that color. |
Avoid folding or tightly rolling originals. The scanner will record each crease, wrinkle and tear. The scanner will also record shadow lines around appliques. Touch-up of such blemishes will be provided at a charge.
Very light papers (onion skins, etc.) will typically exhibit "scalloping" in the scan and prints. We will make every effort to keep this to a minimum.
Pieces with overlays and loose appliques may display scalloping and shadowing and may not be suitable for ColorScan.
Items in frames, pages in books and magazines can not be scanned using ColorScan (pieces must be "free").
For best results, we request a "blank" border or margin on each side of the art work … 2" if possible.
Some pieces may require special set-up to ensure careful transport over the scan head and highest scan quality. If special set-up is required there will be a charge based on time and materials. |
Pieces with 3-dimensional objects (samples of tile, carpet, etc.) can not be transported through ColorScan.

Our newest ColorScan scanner has an excellent color loop/color management system that produces sharp, crisp color. However, we do not present or promote ColorScan prints as "color match prints".
